Hjalti lauk doktorsnámi í klínískri sálfrćđi viđ Árósar Háskóla í desember 2010 og vinnur nú viđ kennslu og rannsóknarstörf viđ sálfrćđideild skólans. Hjalti vinnur einnig ađ rannsóknarstörfum í samstarfi viđ sálfrćđideild University of Bath í Englandi.
